Probiotics and Human Health

01About This Special Issue

Probiotics refer to live micro-organisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer health benefits to the host. Different dietary patterns and food types have different effects on probiotics, give safe and efficient individualized probiotic intervention, and balance the human microecology. It can effectively prevent the occurrence and development of diseases and maintain the health of the body. Oral probiotic supplements are considered to be safe and long-acting. Over the past decade, there has been an increase in research investigating the effects of the improvements of probiotics in disease. Currently, many animal and clinical studies have confirmed the promising effects of several probiotics in the treatment of disease. Because of the species and strain specificity of probiotics, the isolation, identification and effectiveness evaluation of novel probiotics that improve disease is still necessary. This Special Issue aims to provide the current advances about probiotics and human health and disease, with a particular focus on the in vivo relieving effects and mechanisms of fermented food-derived novel probiotics on disease.
In the current Special Issue, we warmly welcome and encourage the manuscripts that are associated with the following sub-topics. The type of submissions is limited to the Original Research article and Review article.
(1) Isolation and identification of novel probiotics;
(2) The improvement effects of probiotics and products on disease;
(3) The mechanisms of probiotics on disease and health;
(4) Probiotics diagnosis and treatment of diseases
Researchers in these fields are invited to propose relevant reviews, perspectives, and research papers to publish in this Special Issue.
